Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering (Interdisciplinary)
The Ph.D. program will require a total of 60 credit hours beyond the B.S. degree in the following categories:
- 21 credit hours of core biomedical engineering courses
- 9 credit hours of elective courses
- 3 credit hours of seminars, with additional BME 6001 seminar courses recommended each semester in the program with a maximum of seven
- 21 credit hours of research
- 6 credit hours of dissertation
Students entering the EMG PhD program with a M.S. thesis degree will receive a maximum of 22 credits. Students entering the PhD program with an M.S. non-thesis will receive a maximum of 25 credits. Additional leveling courses are determine by the Program Director based on the student's undergraduate and/or M.S. degree(s). Electives need to be approved by the program director or dissertation committee.
Applicants whose degrees are from non-English speaking institutions are required to demonstrate English proficiency. Please consult the Graduate School website for required scores.
