M.A. in Education Online
The Master of Arts degree in Education is a 30 credit hour degree designed for students who wish to pursue advanced studies in education. Students can pursue the MA in Education in any of three academic departments in the College of Education:
- Educational Leadership and Foundations
- Educational Psychology and Special Services
- Teacher Education
Admission Requirements
- A satisfactory undergraduate grade point average (GPA) 3.0.
- A current resume.
- A written statement by the applicant describing personal and professional goals as related to the M.A. in Education.
- The admission criteria will be reviewed holistically to assess the potential of the applicant. The successful applicant would typically have an undergraduate upper division GPA of 3.0 or higher that demonstrates focus on academics, a current resume that demonstrates basic knowledge in education, and a written statement that demonstrates maturity and commitment to Education.

Applicants from countries where English is not the first language are required to demonstrate English proficiency. Please consult the graduate school website for required scores.
Graduation Requirements
Students may select one of two options to meet graduation requirements: Thesis or Capstone Project.
Thesis - A thesis and an oral defense, both satisfactory to the Graduate Studies Committee of the academic department.
Capstone Project – An applied research project conducted in an educational setting. The capstone project must meet the standards established by the program in order to satisfy degree requirements.
Plan of Study
The MA is a college-wide degree. Courses for the MA can be pursued in or across the College of Education’s three departments: Educational Leadership and Foundations, Educational Psychology and Special Services, or Teacher Education. Sample MA courses in each department are presented in subsequent sections.
