JS 3300. Special Topics/Jewish Studies.
Special Topics in Jewish Studies (3-0) An interdisciplinary examination of a particular theme or topic in Jewish studies. This course covers an area in Jewish studies for which no regular course is offered. The specific topic will be listed when the course is offered. This course may be repeated for credit when the topic varies.

JS 3311. Jewish Women of the Holocaust.
This course will examine how Jewish women handled the hardships inflicted upon them by the rise of Nazism, during the Holocaust, and after the war ended. We will examine the choices they made, how those choices affected them, why they made the decisions they did, and how their determination sustained them. This will be done through a combination of books, film, and art. Finally, we will explore the rationale behind women’s choices and how they differed from the choices men made during the same period. Prerequisite: ENGL 1312 with a grade of C or better.

Introduction to Judaism: This course introduces students to a historically and culturally important major world religion.

JS 3322. History of Antisemitism.
This course will cover the period from the birth of the Christian Church and conclude with the anti-Semitism espoused by the Nazis. Using primary and secondary texts, students will examine predictions of Jews in history and art and the impact those have had on the respective time periods.
