NURS 3300. Mental Behavioral Health Nurs.
Mental Behavioral Health Nursing This course focuses on the care of patients across the lifespan experiencing cognitive, mental and beahvioral disorders. Emphasis is placed on management of patients facing emotional and psychological stressors as well as promoting and maintaining the mental health of individuals and families. Concepts of crisis intervention, therapeutic communication, anger management, and coping skills are integrated throughout the course. Community-based care and support services are addressed. Clinical experiences provide the student an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and implement safe patient care to patients in selected mental health settings. Prerequisites: NURS 3205, NURS 3401, and NURS 3604 each with a grade of "C" or better and/or department approval.
NURS 3301. Health Assessment.

NURS 3418. Nursing Care of Aging Client.
This course explores current issues and concepts related to aging from the perspective of health care providers. Theories of aging and concepts such as health, culture, safety, economics, and the environment are addressed. The overall goal is to facilitate understanding of older persons and their unique needs in order to provide holistic care and create a better quality of life for the aging client through collaborative practice. Fundamentals of Nursing Practice (3-9-0) This course provides an introduction to nursing care of the individual, and roles of the nurse in micro-and macrosystems , as well as profession related and patient care concepts. Emphasis is placed on the knowledge and skills needed to provide safe, quality care. The theoretical foundation for basic nursing skills is presented and the student will demonstrate these skills in laboratory and clinical settings .Application of the nursing process provides a decision- making framework to assist students in developing effective clinical judgement skils. Prerequisites: NURS 2303, NURS 2407, NURS 2402 and NURS 3401 with a grade of "C" or better. Nursing major fee required.
NURS 3608. Nurs Care of Child & Child Fam.
Nursing Care of Childbearing and Childbearing Families This course provides and integrative, family-centered approach to the care of mothers, newborns, and children. Emphasis is placed on normal and high-risk pregnancies, normal growth and development, family dynamics, common pediatric disorders and the promotion of healthy behaviors in patients. Clinical experiences provide the student an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and implement safe patient care to mothers, newborns, and children in selected settings. Prerequisites: NURS 3314, NURS 3313, NURS 3709 with a grade of C or better. NURS 4714 may be taken concurrently with NURS 3608.
NURS 3609. Family Situational Stressors.
Family Situational Stressors (3-9-0) Focus on nursing care of clients experiencing situational and long term stressors. Content will address biological, physiological, and psychosocial elements. NURS 3709. Adult Health Nursing I.
Adult Health Nursing I This course focuses on th ecare of adult and older partients with health alterations that require medical and/or surgical intervention. Emphasis is placed on the care of patients with alterations in selected body systems: endocrine, immune /hematology, integumentary, gastrointestinal, musculeskeletal, and reproductive. Fluid, electrolytes, oncology, and perioperative concepts are addressed. Concepts of patient centered care, cultural sensitivity, informatics, safe practice, and professionalism are integrated throughout the course. Clinical experiences provide the student an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and implement safe patient care to adults and older adults in a variety of settings. Prerequisites: NURS 3205, NURS 3401, NURS 3604, Departmental approval.
NURS 4033. Senior Seminar.
Senior Seminar The purpose of this course is to provide the student the opportunity to function as contributing member of the interprofessional team and collectively apply the knowledge, practice, and skills acquired in previous courses. Students will provide care to caseload of patients that is safe, evidence-based, patient-centered, and focused on promoting positive patient outcomes. Emphasis is placed on demonstration of professional behaviors, communication that supports information exchange, collaboration and conflict meditation, ethical comportment and the ability to effectively use leadership skills.
NURS 4133. Senior Seminar.
The purpose of this course is to provide the student the opportunity to function as a contributing member of the inter-professional team and collectively apply the knowledge, practice, and skills acquired in previous courses to an intensive clinical practicum. Emphasis is placed on the clinical experience and preparation for the N-CLEX exam which is required for employment as an RN post graduation.

Nursing Care of Persons with Psychiatric Illness (2-3-0) Examination of human responses to psychiatric illness in relation to physiological, psychological, social, cultural and environmental concepts. Includes application of the nursing process to improve health outcomes in caring for persons with psychiatric illness. Prerequisites: NURS 3608 and NURS 3609 each with a grade of "C" or better and/or department approval.
NURS 4402. RN to BSN Role Transition.
RN to BSN Role Transition This focuses on the study of professional nursing. Emphasis is placed on the challenging role of the nurse in contemporary society and the differentiated knowledge and practice expectations of the baccalaureate degree nurse. In addition, there will be scholarly dialogue about the knowldege and skills needed to support patients in health promotion and disease prevention as they strive to reach their optimal level of wellness. Prerequisites: This course is considered the entry course for the RN-BSN program. All University Core and Residency hours are to be completed prior admission to this course. Departmental approval required. Concurrent enrollment allowed with NURS 4303, NURS 4414, and/or NURS 4502.

Acute Care Practicum (2-12-0) This is course is a culminating experience in which the student applies theory to clinical practice. The student will plan, manage, coordinate and provide nursing care for a group of clients in the acute care setting, demonstrating the Board of Nurse Examiners (BNE) entry level compentencies. Adult Health Nursing II This course focuses on the care of adult and older adult patients with complex medical and/or surgical health alterations. Emphasis is placed on the nursing care of patients with alterations in selected body systems: cardiovascular, respiratory, renal/urinary, and neurosensory . Management of acid-base disorders, toxic ingestions, and hemodynamic monitoring will also be addressed. Concepts of health promotion, health education, evidence-based practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration, patient centered care, cultural sensitivity, informatics, safe practice, and professionalism will be integrated throughout the course. Clinical experiences provide the student an opportunity to apply theoretical concepts and implement safe care to patients and selected groups in a variety of settings.
