Program Description:
This certificate program will provide students with graduate level training in chemistry without the requirement for a thesis or dissertation. The graduate level chemistry courses the students enroll in will increase their chemistry knowledge, and will strengthen their problem-solving skills, literature search skills, and writing and presentation skills, which will improve their job prospects and will make them more competitive for graduate degree programs.
Admission Requirements:
• A four year BA or BS degree in chemistry or a closely related discipline
• A minimum GPA of 3. 0
• TOEFL: 79 (internet based) or 550 (paper-based) or IELTS: 6. 5

College and university transcripts, personal statement, general GRE scores, CV, TOEFL or /EL TS scores (if applicable), three confidential letters of recommendation.
Degree Requirements:
The Graduate Certificate in Chemistry is an 18 credit hour program. Students must select a minimum of nine credits of the formal graduate level lecture course offerings of the Department of Chemistry. The remaining nine credits may consist of additional chemistry graduate level lecture courses, or graduate research credits in chemistry, or a combination thereof Students are encouraged to attend Graduate Seminar every semester, but are not required to do so. Up to one credit of Graduate Seminar (CHEM 5195 Graduate Seminar/CHEM 6195 Graduate Seminar) may count toward the Graduate Certificate in Chemistry. C grades in the chemistry graduate courses are considered passing grades, but Chemistry Graduate Certificate students must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
