GEOG 1106.  Laboratory for GEOG 1306.  

Laboratory for Geography 1306 (0-2) (C) May be used to fulfill the requirement for one semester of laboratory in the University Core Curriculum Block in Life and Physical Sciences if you are also taking the lecture course GEOG 1306. GEOG 1106 may be taken concurrently with or subsequently to GEOG 1306. GEOG 1106 & GEOG 1306 are required for the Minor in Geography. Course fee required.

GEOG 1306.  Physical Geography.  

Physical Geography: [TCCN GEOG 1301] Introduction to Earth's atmosphere, weather and climate, geologic structure and surface landforms, soil and ecological systems. Human impacts upon our physical environment. Geographical focus on where things are, why they are there, and how spatial relationships make a difference. May be applied towards the University Core Curriculum Block in Life and Physical Sciences.

GEOG 1310.  Cultural Geography.  

Cultural Geography: [TCCN GEOG 1302] Introduction to cultural elements, their spatial distribution, and their interrelationship to the physical environment. The course should cover debates about class, race, gender, power, and social justice. This course is identical to ANTH 1310 and SOCI 1310.

GEOG 3306.  Weather and Climate.  

Weather and Climate (3-0) Study of the components of weather, weather processes, and measurement, climate elements and control factors; geographic classification of climates and natural vegetation on the earth's surface. Prerequisite: GEOG 1306, or GEOL 1303, or GEOL 1311, or GEOL 1301 or GEOL 1313 or instructor approval. . .

GEOG 3308.  Climate Science.  

A descriptive synthesis of Earth's climate system. Areas of emphasis include: (1) scientific foundations of the study of Earth's climate system, climate dynamics and climate change, (2) basic understandings of Earth's climate system as a part of the overall Earth system and Earth's place in the solar system, (3) geological and instrumental record of climate, and (4) human impacts on the climate system, including human vulnerability and response to climate change. Prerequisite: GEOG 1306 or GEOL 1311 or GEOL 1313 recommended (not required).

GEOG 4307.  Geography of Arid Lands.  

Geography of Arid Lands (3-0) A study of the physical complexes of the world's dry regions. Salient factors emphasized include climate, landforms, water, soils, natural vegetation and various aspects of human occupance. Prerequisites: GEOG 1306 or GEOG 1310 or GEOL 1303 or GEOL 1311 or GEOL 1313 and department approval. GEGO 3306 is recommended.
